Recyclable chemical IBC
A fantastic step for our Recyclable chemical IBC VARIBOX. VARIBOX, Houweling Belgium, and Matco joined forces to make a positive impact on the environment. A closed-loop recycling initiative was set up to meet our supply chain responsibility. VARIBOX IBCs (Intermediate Bulk Containers) are ideal for this purpose as they are designed and manufactured for reuse. The IBCs are made from high-quality recyclable materials, which is crucial in closed-loop recycling.
Houweling Belgium, a company also offering extensive IBC services like cleaning, inspection, and replacement, collects the used VARIBOX. Houweling then cleans and neutralizes the IBCs and the VARIBOX is prepared for recycling.
As an experienced recycling partner, MATCO PLASTICS converts this Post-Industrial waste into high-quality recycled material. Matco shreds and grinds our used VARIBOX and adds proprietary VARIBOX additives on their extrusion lines with continuous melt filtration.
By working together, we are able to reduce waste and promote sustainability through closed-loop recycling. We are all proud to be part of a circular economy and set an example for others to reach their supply chain responsibility as well.
Houweling Belgium, formerly known as Alpak, specializes in the cleaning and servicing of industrial packing. Among its services, Houweling Belgium offers the collection of used recyclable chemical IBC from VARIBOX after 5 or 10 years of intensive usage. These containers are thoroughly inspected and cleaned, and all the necessary preparation are made for recycling. The VARIBOX IBCs are widely used in the chemical and detergents business, however, after many years of use, they may no longer be used, making them available for recycling. This is where Houweling Belgium steps in, ensuring that these containers are collected and prepared for recycling, meeting our supply chain responsibility. Houweling Belgium’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its services, ensuring that used industrial packaging is handled responsibly, reducing the impact on the environment.
Matco Plastics is offering a wide range of services including shredding, grinding, and compounding. Their mission is to transform raw plastic materials into ready-to-use compounds that meet the specific needs of their clients. At Matco Plastics, they understand the unique requirements for the recyclable chemical IBC of VARIBOX, which is why they add proprietary VARIBOX additives to enhance the properties of the compounds meeting requirements for use in new VARIBOX IBCs. Circular solutions are the heart of Matco Plastics’ offerings. They use state-of-the-art equipment and technology to mix the additives with the shredded plastics and transform them into homogenous and high-quality polyethylene. This process not only ensures the uniform distribution of additives but also guarantees a homogeneous material, making them suitable to process for new VARIBOX IBCs. The result of Matco Plastics’ recycling is a ready-to-use compound that is tailored to the VARIBOX pallet.
Recyclable chemical IBC
The use of post-consumer-recycled (PCR) materials is becoming increasingly important in manufacturing processes. One example of this is the use of polyethylene, a type of plastic that is been used to create the VARIBOX. The VARIBOX containers which have been collected by Houweling Belgium and shredded by Matco Plastics are being used to create new pallets for the VARIBOX. Nowadays these new pallets have 100% PCR content, which means that they are made entirely from this recycled material. This helps to reduce the amount of waste and decreases the resources required to manufacture new pallets. These newly produced VARIBOX containers have now 30% PCR in their total weight. By collaborating on this initiative we are incorporating more sustainable practices into our operations. By using recycled materials in our chemical packaging we support our customers to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Recyclable chemical IBC, the VARIBOX FC
The VARIBOX FC is a unique IBC that is designed for the safe and sustainable handling of chemicals. Made from LLDPE Polyethylene, it features an integrated spill containment system and a range of safety features that make it ideal for use in a variety of industries. The VARIBOX FC is also fully recyclable, which means that it can be reused in a new VARIBOX helping to reduce waste and protect the environment.
