This list contains chemicals with are familiar in many different markets and applications. It could be that your chemical(s) or chemical mixes are not included in the list. Acetic acid
The VARIBOX containers are well known for the safe storage and transport of Acetic acid. All concentrations of the acid can be stored in the VARIBOX. The formula for Acetic acid is CH3COOH and you can find it in the ADR under UN 2789 or UN 2790. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM.
Ammonia
A typical chemical that is transported by many different distributors and stored by many users in the VARIBOX is Ammonia. Concentrations up to 20% are allowed to be put in the VARIBOX. The formula for Ammonia is NH3 and you can find it in the ADR under UN 2672. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM. Please be careful with Ammonia, there is a possibility that it builds up pressure – you can find more information in the support section in the FAQ Ammonia.
Citric acid
Citric acid is a widely used chemical in many different markets. The VARIBOX is well suited for the safe storage and transport of this chemical. The VARIBOX is approved for all concentrations of Citric acid. The formula for Citric acid is C6H8O7 and you can find it in the ADR under UN 3265. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM.
Diesel (>60°C)
Diesel (>60°C) is a widely used chemical in many different markets. The VARIBOX is well suited for the safe storage and transport of this chemical. The VARIBOX is only approved for all concentrations Diesel less then >60°C. The formula for Diesel is C16H30 and you can find it in the ADR under UN 1202. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM.
Ethylene glycol
Ethylene glycol is a widely used chemical in many different markets. The VARIBOX is well suited for the safe storage and transport of this chemical. The VARIBOX is approved for all concentrations of Ethylene glycol. The formula for Ethylene glycol is C2H6O2 and you can find it in the ADR under UN 1189. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM.
Ferric chloride
The truly reusable VARIBOX IBCs are often used for the safe transport and storage of Ferric chloride solution or as it is also known: Iron III Chloride solution. The VARIBOX is suited for all concentrations. The formula for Ferric chloride solution is Cl3Fe and you can find it in the ADR under UN 2582. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is VITON.
Formaldehyde
The truly reusable VARIBOX IBCs are often used for the safe transport and storage of Formaldehyde or as it is also known: methanal . The formula for Ferric chloride solution is CH₂O and you can find it in the ADR under UN 2209. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM.
Formic acid
The truly reusable VARIBOX IBCs are often used for the safe transport and storage of Formic acid. The VARIBOX is suited for all concentrations. The formula for Formic acid is CH2O2 and you can find it in the ADR under UN 1779 The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM.
Hydrochloric acid
In many applications across different markets, Hydrochloric acid is being used. The VARIBOX is well-known for safely transporting this substance. The VARIBOX is suited for all concentrations. The formula for Hydrochloric acid is HCI and you can find it in the ADR under UN 1789. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is VITON. With Hydrochloric acid, also pay attention to the choice of metal parts such as springs: Stainless steel 304 and 316 can be insufficiently resistant. It may be better to choose springs made of Hastelloy®.
Hydrofluoric acid
VARIBOX Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) can be filled with Hydrofluoric acid. You can safely use the IBC to transport your acid. The VARIBOX is suited for all concentrations up to 60% and can be used for 2 years. The formula for Hydrofluoric acid is HF and you can find it in the ADR under UN 1790. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is VITON.
Hydrogen peroxide
The truly reusable VARIBOX IBCs are often used for the safe transport and storage of Hydrogen peroxide. The VARIBOX is suited for all concentrations up to ≤60%. The formula for Hydrogen peroxide. is H2O2 and you can find it in the ADR under UN 2014 or UN 2984. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is VITON. A pressure relief vent is required!
Nitric acid
Distributors are often using the truly reusable VARIBOX IBCs to provide Nitric acid in the safest manner. The VARIBOX is suitable for all concentrations up to 55% and may be used for 5 years. The VARIBOX is also suitable for concentrations above 55% to 62% and may then be used for 2 years. The formula for Nitric acid is HN03 and you can find it in the ADR under UN 2031. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is VITON.
Peroxyacetic acid
To provide their customers in the safest way with Peroxyacetic acid, many different chemical distributors across Europe use the containers of VARIBOX. The VARIBOX is suitable for concentrations up to 5% and may then be used for 5 years. The VARIBOX is also suitable for certain peroxyacetic acids with concentrations up to 15% and may then be used for 2 years. The formula for Peroxyacetic acid is C2H4O3 and you can find it in the ADR under UN 3149 or UN 3109. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is VITON. A pressure relief vent is required!
Phosphoric acid

The VARIBOX is suited for all concentrations of Phosphoric acid. The formula of this chemical substance is H3PO4 and you can find it in the ADR under UN 1805. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM.
Polyaluminum chloride
The truly reusable VARIBOX IBCs are often used for the safe transport and storage of Polyaluminum chloride. The VARIBOX is suited for all concentrations. The formula for Polyaluminum chloride is Al2Cl2H4O6S and you can find it in the ADR under UN 3264. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is VITON.
Potassium hydroxide
The VARIBOX containers are well known for the safe storage and transport of Potassium hydroxide. The VARIBOX is suited for all concentrations of Potassium hydroxide. The formula of this chemical substance is KOH and you can find it in the ADR under UN 1814. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM.
Potassium silicate solution
Potassium silicate solution is a widely used chemical in many different markets. The VARIBOX is well suited for the safe storage and transport of this chemical. The VARIBOX is approved for all concentrations of Potassium silicate solution. The formula for Potassium silicate solution is K4O4Si and this chemical is not added to the international guidelines/regulations from the UN and ADR. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM.

The formula of this chemical substance is NaClO2 and you can find it in the ADR under UN 1908. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM.
Sodium hydroxide
Many VARIBOX Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) are filled with Sodium hydroxide. You can safely use the IBC to transport your Sodium hydroxide. The VARIBOX is suited for all concentrations of Sodium hydroxide. The formula of this chemical substance is NaOH and you can find it in the ADR under UN 1824. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM.
Sodium hypochlorite

The formula for Sodium hypochlorite is NaOCl and you can find it in the ADR under UN 1791. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is VITON. A pressure relief vent on the version is required!

The formula for Sodium silicate solution is Na2O3Si and this chemical is not added to the international guidelines/regulations from the UN and ADR. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is EPDM.
Sulfuric acid
Distributors are often using the truly reusable VARIBOX IBCs to provide Sulfuric acid in the safest manner. The VARIBOX is suited for all concentrations of Sulfuric acid, so even up to 98%. The formula for Sulfuric acid is H2SO4 and you can find it in the ADR under UN 1830. The VARIBOX SC is available with a PE valve especially suitable for Sulfuric acid up to 98%. The advised version of the VARIBOX for this chemical is VITON.
