Service companies
In order to continue to comply with the requirements of the ADR, Intermediate Bulk Containers must be subjected to periodic leak tightness testing and that IBCs must be inspected periodically. The owner of the IBC is responsible for the execution of the periodic tests and inspections at intervals of not more than 2 ½ years and for recording the results of the tests and inspections in a report.
The periodic tests and inspections for IBCs must be carried out by an inspection unit approved by the competent authority. This may be the company’s own inspection unit or the owner may have this done by a service company. The authorized service companies service company takes care of the correct performance of the test and inspection, the marking of the IBC, and the reporting thereof.
